My Internship experience started by working at the City of Napa with Jaina French who is in charge of Community Relations. My first day consisted of meeting everyone that works for the city of Napa. After meeting everyone I was located to a cubicle where I had my very own desk and computer to do work! I was first introduced to the intranet and the website where I would do must of my work. Once I got a feeling for the programs I started to work on projects such as web design crafting posts and creating illustrations for social medias. My internship requirement was that I complete 60 hours in an 8 to 12 weeks.

What Is HitRecord? Joseph Gordon-Levitt is the founder of the online production company and website HitRecord which features projects submitted by artist around the world. HitRecord uses a variety of media to produce projects such as, short films, books, photos and much more. My Hit Record Process and Beginning The beginning to the project was to explore the website Hit Record. When I first jumped into Hit Record I found it very interesting and was fascinated by how much this website had to offer. Much of my time on Hit Record was exploring the page looking for something to catch my eye. With this platform having a lot to offer it was hard to find one project in mind I wanted to do. A lot of what I wanted to do was be able to work on my own and find something on Hit Record that I really was passionate about and could learn something new on this platform. My Hit Record direction and focus After exploring around Hit Record for a while I was challenged to find what direction or what exactly what I wanted to do since the website had some much work projects and art work already done. I knew from my previous Hit Record blog post that I had wanted to do something in the images category and I wanted to incorporate a passion of mine which was classic cars Ford Mustangs in particular. I did a lot of exploring around the image category of cars and mustangs but didn't find anything that had really sparked an interested. So I decided that I wanted to focus on photography and taking pictures of classic cars I really like. 1972 Ford Mustang Grande Here is my first illustration I took my self here in Napa. I took this photo show here by the Napa fair grounds. The reason I choose this one is because I had really liked the angle of the car and the sun light coming through the trees. When I took this picture I was really satisfied with how it turned out naturally. I ended up not changing much to the picture besides a little bit of color tone and making the sun a little dimmer. I wanted to post this picture to Hit Record and see if anyone do anything interesting with it. Photography Challenge For my second Illustration I contributed to a project. Like most of my class mates I also did a photography contribution. The instructions of the project creator was " I want to see everything that has to do with outdoors, such as insect, animals, trees, and anything else that you can think of that has to do with nature. I decided I wanted to take a picture of Napa River and post it onto the project challenge. The reason I choose this picture is because it shows the beauty of the river in a green environmental setting. Animated Ford Mustang I animated this logo on Adobe Photoshop. I used two images to create one layer on photoshop. I then combined the two images and changed the frame delay time to 0.5 seconds for both the layers. Finally I changed it so the image would play forever. This was a simple template I took online and just put it into adobe photoshop and did the animation for it. The biggest challenge I had with making this was figuring out how to do the layers in order to compose the gif. After working in Hit Record over the past few weeks I learned that their is a lot Hit Record can offer but to me personally I didn't find a certain project or art piece I really wanted to work on. I feel that you can use Hit Record as a good place to look for inspiration and see what other people are making. I feel that at the moment I probably wouldn't go back to hit Record for a little while but as I keep progressing and learning new skills and getting better at photography and photoshop etc I will defiantly go back to Hit Record to post my proud work! Create-A-Thon is a one day event that was held at New Technology High School that was sponsored by Adobe. This one day event consisted of 4th and 5th graders from the Bel Aire Park Magnet school. During the event New Tech High and Adobe hosted an all day event that taught student how to work in the adobe programs and learning more about New Technology High and Adobe as a whole.
Hit Record is an online collaborative production company founded and owned by actor and director Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The company uses a variety of media to produce such projects as short films, books, and DVDs. Jumping into this project I feel very excited. I have been looking through the website and have found a lot of beautiful photos that give me inspiration. I seem to be drawn more into the illustrations and photos especially photos that include cars as I am a car enthusiast. My expeditions for this project are to incorporate classic cars and do some sort of photo or illustration of a car. I'm hoping I can take my own photo or take an already taken photo and put the photo into adobe illustrator and create a piece by editing the photo and creating a new image. My next steps for this project is to collect my images or photos I want to work with and decide which one I want to work on. After I have found the photo I like I want to take it to adobe illustrator to start editing and figure what I want to do to distort the image. I want to look at other projects and see how I can use them for inspiration. I am not certain about what I want to do when I distort the photo or image on adobe illustrator or Photoshop. I am very excited to work on Hit Record because it is really good to see other peoples work and get ideas from others. I think that the idea of being able to work with other people ideas and projects is really cool and that it is great that Hit record has done. What I want to get and learn out of this project is to explore the photo and illustrations part and see if I find interest in that field. The Napa Lighted Art Festival is a 9 day festival that concludes a lighted art walk around downtown Napa valley. This festival celebrates the original artwork created by local and international artist from around the world. These in stallions are located in 16 locations across downtown Napa. The design/vs class was able to take on the task of creating one of the art pieces with the theme being beyond imagination. Within the project we were grouped together to create a part of the lighted art piece. We all had the same goal in mind which was how could we represent the Napa valley in a lighted projection that would be displayed on a large building with the theme of beyond imagination. During the process of prototyping the project we first started by sketching out ideas and brainstorming on the white board. After we hit the white board we split up into our groups to start working on vision of our part of the project. There is me in the red flannel! The part I played in the role of the project was the resource manager. I role of resource manager was to collect and organize resources in order to help the team find what they are looking for. Within the making of pet war which was our teams product I was in charge of making assets which included the asteroids and the layer in which you can see in the picture above. A part of the project that I loved was the outcome of the product and how much imagination came from working on this project. I'm very happy with the outcome of the product and I feel honored to be a part of the Napa valley lighted art festival and am proud to represent the valley with our work. For The first project in CCR, we choose a career we wanted to study and research about. The career I choose to look into was Fire Fighting in the air force/military. what this project showed me about this potential career is that there are a lot of factors to take in if I want to go into Firefighting or even the military, such as colleges, recruitment, and a lot of training.
I learned a lot about myself through this project. I learned that if I want to pursue this career I will have to put in a lot of time and sweat and tears to join the air force. Also, something I learned about my self is that I really find an interest in working with people and that I am a hands-on person and I like to help the community. I do not know if I will be sticking with this career. Even though this career interests me a lot and I definitely could see myself doing this as a career I still want to look at other careers I find interesting. I plan on looking into taking some criminal justice classes to continue my learning. What I learned about colleges/careers was that most people go into the air force to further their education while still being able to pay for college by working for the air force. What I struggled with the most on this project was the interview process. I found it was difficult to find an in-person interview to do because since I don't know many people locally in the air force or fire department I found myself not knowing who to interview. I ended up doing an interview over the phone working perfectly fine getting all my questions answered and learn more about the career. Process What was your process for working through the project? Throughout the project Toby and I had the process of first starting out reading a book called A Long Way Gone By Ishmael Beah. After reading the book we were given the project topic of making a children's book about immigration. Our first step in the process of making our children's book was to create a storyboard/outline of our story and how we wanted to interpenetrate the book in the form a children's book. Once we outlined our children's book we took it to google docs to start writing it. While Toby was working on the written part of the story I was focused on the Illustrations of the book. For the Illustrations we also used a story board to plot out the pictures with the story so it could make sense. After we had finished both the illustrations and the written story we printed the writing and glued the story and painted illustrations onto the sketch book. Challenges What was the most challenging part of the project? How did you meet those challenges? the most challenging part of the project for me was starting the illustrations and drawing them on our story board. I found myself having a hard time drawing my children's book illustrations and was unhappy with my slow start. How I overcame the challenge of my slow start was having Nick come to our table to get some help plot out our illustration storyboard. What you learned. What skills did you learn? What did you learn about immigration? What are you proudest about your final product? The skills I learned throughout this project was that Experimenting with different mediums is beneficial and that I acrylic paint was the best looking outcome when experimenting for my illustrations. I learned that in the book I read about immigration, Ishmael Beah had to fight to get food and a place to live in order to immigrate to New York and live a better life. I am really proud about how my illustrations came out when I used paint and I will defiantly continue to use acrylic paint. In this blog post I will be talking about overpopulation and why it is a pressing environmental issue that is threatening human welfare. Overpopulation is one of the the more pressing environmental issues. Overpopulation is a silent issue, not only affecting humans but threatening other environmental issues such as, global warming, environmental pollution, habitat loss, and much more. Global Human population is growing over 75 million annually a year. We are estimated to reach around 8 by 2050. Humans annually absorb 42 percent of the Earth's terrestrial net primary productivity, 30 percent of its marine net primary productivity, and 50 percent of its fresh water. Every person needs food, water and energy, and also produces more waste and pollution. According to “Overpopulation Affects - Everything Connects”, "Over the next forty years, 97% of the 2.3 billion projected increase will be in the less developed regions, with nearly half (49%) in Africa." the diverse communities found in lakes, rivers, and wetlands may be most endangered. 34% of fish species, are threatened with “extinction”. You may wonder why other animals do not have the problem of overpopulation for example Ants, there is a quote "If we were to weigh all the ants in the world, they would weigh as much as all of the people," said wildlife presenter Chris Packham recently in BBC Four's The Wonder Of Animals: Ants. As the human population continues to explode, natural resources, such as fossil fuels, fresh water, coral reefs and frontier forests, continue to plummet, which is placing competitive stress on the basic life sustaining resources and leading to a diminished quality of life. “On a finite planet, the optimum population providing the best quality of life for all, is clearly much smaller than the maximum, permitting bare survival. The more we are, the less for each; fewer people mean better lives”. -”Roger Martin is chair of the charity Population Matters” Image Sources OverPopulation Infographic Overpopulation environmental issue 1. It is important that you do your research on that certain movie before you jump right into the movie. You can also read an article or book before seeing it. This will give you a different perspective on that movie you are seeing so you can have to different ideas.
2. have independent reasons for believing what apparently everybody else thinks everybody else believes? If you can’t come up with your own such argument, you may just be following other lemmings bubbling along who lack independent reasons for believing whatever is on the agenda. 3. When exaggerating or modify a historical event in a movie it is important that they stay true to what has happened, its okay to exaggerate a certain scene in a movie to make it stand out but if it isn't historically correct it shouldn't be used. The New Tech school wide learning outcome I think I reflected was Oral communication. During this project I feel as if I was on the quite side of the group. Over the course of the project I showed growth in speaking up and asking my teammates more clarifying questions. I believe I really stood out when we presented and that I have become a better and more confident speaker because of this project. I believe this project gives an opportunity to those not confident with speaking/presenting to crowds to be able to just read off a script and not be scared of having to memorize lines and be scared of messing up. In the future I plan on being more engaged in the written communication of the project and have that be my goal for next time.
